I don't see anyone suing the school because if the sport is sponsored by the school (which seems to be the case since the AD made the policy change in this specific instance) then all the athletes waived their right to sue when they signed up for the sport. Typically the school will still be at fault if the injury is caused by gross negligence of the staff in charge but any old injury that comes from regular participation in the sport isn't on the school.


Signing up for a sport means they enter a name and that's it. They don't actually sign legal documents.

??? A large amount of schools (probably almost all of them?) make you sign waivers so they don't get screwed when kids injure themselves and parents want to make some money through the courts. It's typically something that most kids don't even see though cause the parents are the one doing the paperwork for them if they're in high school.
