I guess now the overpaid athletes will have to find a new way to address their issues, preferably one that actually does something other than piss people off.
It's kneeling. Before Kaepernick did it, no one gave a shit about the idea of "kneeling" .... so when the next form of protest happens, the NFL will have to simply keep changing their policy.
"No wearing this during the anthem." "No looking away from the flag." "No listening to music by Biggie when the Anthem is playing." "No listening to ANYTHING when the Anthem is playing." "No wearing pinky rings that say "Black Lives Matter" on them." "No crossing your fingers during the anthem!"
Like, I can guarantee more forms of protest will occur.
They should just protest outside of work like normal people do.
Don't try to stir things up on company time.
The thing is though, if I went to work this Saturday and my boss told me I had to stand for the National Anthem before every work day, I'd laugh and not do it and just do my work. There's really no reason to enforce it.This isn't a thing about kneeling. The reason it bothers me so much is that there is a precedent that really reflects this, and that is WVBoE VS Barnette. Sure, it's not the same, but you cannot simply force someone to stand up or against values they don't believe in or stand for. This is why I am on the side of the baker with the gay cake. He offered them options and they had many. Here, it's like a gun being held to one's head. It isn't a kneeling thing. I am worried just how far something like this would go.
