The real villains here are the owners. It goes to show that they don't give a damn about the social impact of sports, its all about the bottom dollar for them. I guess they feel it was becoming distracting to the game/their product and implemented a way that, they feel, will bring a stop to it. Absolutely and from a business point of view, their objections make sense. I'm just saying it goes to show that when the owners do this it makes a statement that any move they make is about the bottom dollar and PR. Of course it is. That's literally what their job is...
