Only reason last name has relevance is if you want to have kids with your last name but I don't want kids. Personally, I think all kids should have Hyphenated Last names of their biological parents. e.g.: <Your Name> <Father/Mother>-<Father/Mother> So by generation 6 they'll have potentially 14 names....
