Arcades were HUGE in the 80's, and it's still easy to say that games were popular in the 70's. I'd be surprised if there were a lot of people in their 40's on this website (but it's cool that you're here!), but even someone born in 1978 would have been born after video games became popular. It does seem like a lot of people might just think that video games weren't popular before they were born.
