It's the same with Anime. The only respected Anime films are the Studio Gilbhi ones. Seven Samurai routinely ranks in Top 100's. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon won 10 Academy Awards and 40 other awards. Enter the Dragon is routinely referenced in action movie circles as one of the greats. As for anime, Akira is renowned for being a work of art and highly influential on sci-fi and cyberpunk. So you are wrong on every count.
