First of all, stop with the false narrative that you don't need guns as long as the police have guns. That might be true in a suburb with a proper police force and non congested roadways, but the average response time in my area for an emergency 911 call is 30-35 minutes. My small town only has a local cop on duty for 2 shifts (16 hours) a week.

And secondly, I rather doubt this senator believes this has any chance of passing. I think that possibly they might have been trying to make a point about how we need to look at gun control differently because there's just too many guns out there in circulation to ever realistically make it difficult to get a black market rifle even if they outlawed everything.

Or, maybe they're an idiot. Who knows, I'm no telepath. The whole plan falls apart with the laughable compensation amount they're proposing. Most of the guns they want to ban are worth well over the $1,000 mark. That's like trying to cut the pro gun crowd then piss in the wound.
