Watched the first 7 eps of darling in the franxx. At first I wasn't really feeling very engaged but it's done better since then. I feel bad for Goro as of now. I feel like I've seen the same type of character in the exact same situation a few times before. I'm also a little torn cause I don't really like zero two or ichigo. Oh well zero two has the better character design and is destined to "win" by virtue of being shown to the audience first (spoilers, the first girl you see virtually always wins).

I kinda feel like the writer just liked that one episode of eva where shinji and asuka have to fight in perfect sync to defeat that one angel and just made a whole show about that episode.

I'm also really not feeling the threat yet. Everything feels like its going a little too well and like this is when they would normally turn things around on you and brutally kill off of a few of the main characters (probably fatty and one of the girls at minimum) so we get that "this shit is serious, don't go goofing around" moment. I actually hope it doesn't happen though cause I hate to think it's really that formulaic.
