Nintendo fans started showing their blinded fanboyism during the N64 era. They were horrible... The most readily used mantra Nintendrones used was the "Quality over quantity" argument. They tried to say that because the N64 had Zelda, Mario and Goldeneye (all great games), the N64 was thus a better system than the Playstation, which at that point had about 40-50 stellar titles. To them, 3 games that received review scores of 9.5 were better than 40 "9.3" games. Also, they claimed that NOT having a bunch of great titles meant the games lasted longer and were more interesting. Having a large library lead to people losing focus on the games they owned. Imagine using that 1st world issue as the reason why your console was better. And then there were the "cartridges are better than CDs, because if I drop my cartridge out of my second-story window or drag a rock across it, it'll still work" debates.
