I always walk into cinemas with carrier bags full of snacks in full view, and we are assigned seat numbers when buying tickets where, at Odeon at least, they show you a plan of the screen that shows which seats are already taken and you can pick where you want to sit. The one theater I went to thatvhad assigned seating did the same. My two friends and I all bought our tickets at the same screen. So, we were able to find three seats next to each other. It was very weird at the time because we didn't know they had assigned seating when we went to buy tickets there. It's the only one I've ever be to that had assigned seating. I think it still relatively new in most areas... of they even have it. I was looking it up online. It seems pretty weird. Some places have none, some places seem to have only those, and some places seem to be a mix, while others only have them at places that serve food... I've never walked in with snacks in view. But, a purse of a friend would work well.
