The problem is save scumming in real life is a real pain, as you can't control the universe your consciousness travels to when you end it in this one, and it tends to move to the next one most like this one, where you currently exist.

The solution is literally a pain for you, as you need to send out an assassin to eliminate any versions of yourself in universes that are closer to your current self the one in a universe that is x amount of time in the past.

Such a program can be generated but, the tricky part, it's quite likely there are other versions of you doing the same thing, in universes that are similar to yours, so eventually this causes all but 1 to be obliterated, just your current one is highly likely to be one of them. Considering the end result is to cease your current existance and continue on in another universe that is back in time, this isn't too bad, it's just alot of pain and suffering experienced in the process.

The REAL danger though is when this occurs across a wide spectrum at the same time, with enough differences in each, to overlap, which can literally end up wiping out anyone in a universe that is similar enough to use the information you have. So you go through all that, and find yourself in universe where Russia rules the world, and all your for-knowledge is worthless.

For all intents and purposes it takes less effort, and technology to create an accurate prediction machine that can mathematically predict the order of events in this universe, especially in fixed location (such as earth).

Yeah, that's why I just start a new game after the previous playthrough. I don't have to carefully adjust things in order to get the results I want, but rather just go through and hope for the best. Less work, but more time and more fun. Plus when you get good results, it actually feels like you earned it.
