So we are adamant about our need for a firearm for protective purposes. tbh, when I was a kid, somebody in the house accidentally set off the alarm one night and it took cops an hour to respond. Cops aren't there to protect and serve you, they're there to protect and serve the state. With incidents like shootings and break ins, they have zero interest in risking their lives. They assess damage and determine fault. That is it. It's sad and very naive of you not to believe it, quite frankly. The police aren't cape wearing super heroes who swoop in and save the day from masked henchman. They extort money for the state under the guise of public safety via fines and civil asset forfeiture, and when an actual crime is reported, they arrive after it's been committed to again, determine fault. The cases you hear of police officers saving someone in time of need are the exception, not the rule.
