We dont often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes, but I can see that they are, and that when they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men dont have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women wont feel compelled to be submissive. If men dont have to control, women wont have to be controlled.

read: men are the problem. when men change, womens' lot will be better. men are aggressive and controlling and that is why women are submissive.

Thank you for responding.

I can't say I share your interpretation here. The focus in this excerpt is on men's problems, not men as problems. She does say that when men's problems are better resolved, things will get better for women too, yes. But that's a statement about making things better for everyone, not tearing men down. For the last part, that's about societal pressures, not innate natures, and her position is that everyone would be better off if we all dumped those toxic pressures.

you can dress it up however you want, she's still blaming all men for all womens' problems, mere seconds after she said it didn't have to be about exactly that

I don't think she's blaming men, but blaming society for making men feel like they can't have feelings and that they need to be "real men".
