Well, every other Western democracy, the government negotiates drug prices. But that'd be "socialism" (even though most of those countries aren't socialist, and we have our own socialist programs like Medicare, but yeah...) so we can't have that!

It makes total sense that the drug companies can charge us whatever they want for the drugs without interference from that pesky government, while they benefit from the same government's interference in granting lengthy patents to give them a monopoly on it and to spend taxpayer money to go after counterfeiters and generics trying to get around said patents.
