Zelda's characters are at their best when their designs are strong like these. Their personalities and characteristics are elegantly woven into the character design in a way that lets you understand what kind of person they are just by looking at them, before they've even spoken. In addition to their appearances, many of them have wildly unique animations, voices, and sound effects (think Makar's walking sounds for example, or the way the Killer Bees flank you). Each character is visually distinct and can easily be identified from each other, as well as being colorful and fun to look at. Most of these designs would be either impossible or much less interesting and effective if the games were not stylized. If you think these games have lazy character design, then you are just blatantly wrong.
Some other examples of strong character designs that are possible thanks to heavy stylization are in ARMS, Okami, Team Fortress 2, and Overwatch. ---
