yes. it's kind of like that 1080p is high-res, but only at a "macro" level. if you look at the fine detail, it gets blurred. with 4k you see high-res even when looking at the fine detail. it doesn't seem to make a ton of difference at the macro level, though.

additionally, much 1080p video is actually not fully 1080p. something to do with the luminosity being flattened in clusters of 4 pixels (so I guess the luminosity is really 540 not 1080 or something). so even just playing a 4k video on a 1080p display can still look a lot better than the 1080p version of the video.

the best, though, is 4k60 on an OLED. that looks jaw dropping... not quite worth the price, but it sure does look amazing.


I want an OLED so bad. I may bring my PS4 into Best Buy or something and see how it looks! lol before purchase of course.
