I bet you think that's the reason people didn't like the new Ghostbusters.
I didn't think the trailer for Ghostbusters looked great, but there's no doubt that people heavily overreacted to how "awful" it looked for very much the same reason they're trying to say this looks bad when it actually looks quite the opposite. Even something like the Netflix adaptation of Death Note didn't receive anywhere near the same level of hate that Ghostbusters did prior to release and it looked far worse. (And WAS far, far worse than anyone could have imagined.) Ghostbusters just turned out to be mediocre.
Death Note got tons of hate for being whitewashed. ---
