After reading that spoilers part I honestly think the way the anime did it was better. In fact the story is better if Gilbert is dead. It's about moving on from loss and rediscovering yourself so if they just say "lol jk, she lost nothing" it seems pretty pointless. If I were her I would be so goddamn pissed at hodgins and gilbert after learning he is alive like wtf. She tried to kill herself largely over her feelings of loss and guilt and I'm imagining if she succeeded in going through with it they'd be feeling pretty shitty about the whole thing. Huge betrayal as far as I'm concerned. If gilbert is alive IMO it HAS to be the old amnesia and being taken care of somewhere else thing which would potentially fit with the ending of the anime. ---
