Topic	Teen turns down plea deal for 25 years in prison, gets 65 years instead

That kid is dumb for laughing and 65 years is a waste of tax payer money. Theres no benefit to keeping someone locked up for that long because he was only 15. 25 would've been fair. Alabama is being a bit extreme again. The guy who died got his punishment for rushing at cops. so why punish someone else ? They offered him 25, and he wouldn't take it. And this kid was an accomplice, meaning he's legally just as responsible as the dude who rushed the cops. Also, the dead guy wasn't the only one shooting the cops, and this kid likely did, too. A juvenile declining a life sentence for a death he did not commit? Gee, I'm surprised he chose to fight instead. his kid likely did, too. "likely", as in, not established. In what universe is 25 years max a 'life sentence?' I'm under the impression that it was for 25 years minimum which is often regarded as a life sentence, and would certainly look that way to many 18-year-olds.
