Everybody knows sweet onions are the best onion. I wasn't disagreeing with that. I was disagreeing that McDonald's would keep them. Red onions is the best raw onion. Sweet is best for onion rings or when you want to add subtle sweetness and a bit of tang. Yellow or white when pairing with tomato or other sweeteners. Sweet would be better for sandwiches raw if you like a lot of onion on your sandwiches. Yellow is too acidic to have raw with that much. Yellow/white are great once you cook the sulfur out. I prefer red on my sandwiches but that's because I like the type of tanginess it provides.
