Why would solar, wind, and water turbines not be able to provide the electricity to heat a home? The cost of solar keeps dropping. It seems to be viable.
Because the majority of houses will not convert to use it. They will still rely on natural gas. That's just a small part of what fossil fuels does for society.
With the current rate of lithium consumption, the supply isn't big enough to upgrade every vehicle to use it. Let's not forget that Airlines are heavily reliant on fossil fuels and rechargeables are not efficient enough run it. I bet you didn't know that each 10 hour flight uses about 36,000 gallons of gasoline. Well, now you know.
I guess I don't understand why you are so dismissive of something like solar for a home, in say 100 years. If the cost continues to drop, why would it not be an option?
Of course it's an option. Some people are doing that right now, but it doesn't mean we won't be reliant on fossil fuels for the next 100 years.
Doesn't mean we will either and there's a lot of people who don't believe we will. Far more than those who do if we're being honest.
We'll see.
Until someone finds a way to fly an airliner from the US to Europe without using gasoline, I won't get my hopes up.
While alternative fuels aren't renewable, would there be a possibility of that? I'm sincerely asking because I don't know.
Well, there is one possibility...nuclear-powered engine.
There's the potential of biofuels and a more efficient super rechargeable battery that has yet to be developed. ---
