That isn't relevant to what I posted. I said the cost of solar is dropping. It looks like in 2008 the cost of solar was $8.82 per watt, now it's around $2-$3 per watt.

Isn't that still substantially higher than with traditional energy sources?


We aren't talking about today at this very minute. We are talking about the future.

I think renewable energy will only start taking off once it becomes cost competitive with non renewable energy without government subsidies. That could happen in 100 years or sooner when non renewable energy becomes scarce enough to become more expensive or renewable technology improves, but I see it as a combination of both.
