Yes, I'm thinking you just took my post too literally. I was pointing out that having a competition where the only value of a woman is how beautiful she is (and maybe some likability?) is inherently old-fashioned and stupid because beauty is pretty objective and not as useful or impressive as, say, being the next surgeon general who also happens to be a woman. Emphasizing these as important events only creates a culture where women are objectified and young women are convinced they have to strive to be like them.

Calling it a competition doesn't really change anything, either. If we have a competition for who is the better nose picker, it doesn't change things.

I'm not sure why you had trouble grasping the obvious scathing vitriol, but just for the record, I don't (nor have I ever) believed that beauty pageants involve women being enslaved to stand in a line and be masturbated on.

Beauty is an attribute and people compete in it, get over yourself getting offended for competitors who are there willingly. You're the who's being sexist by "protecting these poor women from being judged on nothing but their appearance ='( "

Young women can strive to be whatever they want, beauty pageants aren't even popular lol so wtf are you talking about. Literally a "think of the children" argument, how ridiculous.
