It literally did nothing for the Dragon Ball saga. 80% of it was tournament arcs. Even in the fucking last episode they say "oh this form that you just discovered is only possible in that tournament!!!" like lol wtf??? What a waste of a series. Dunno, the tournaments were a fun watch imo. It felt like older Dragon Ball cause of that, when it was more about tournaments. Yes there were issues like power scaling and a few writing holes. That was mostly toei puting different people im charge of writing every other episode.
