But in the movie it doesn't show a conflict for kingship. Aragorn just kinda acts solemn at every mention of being king for no real reason or explanation or whatsoever.


It's been a while since I've seen the movies, but the only real scene about that I recall was in Fellowship where Aragorn tells Arwen that he's afraid of being just like Isildur. She then tells him that he has his blood, but he's not Isildur himself. A line which Aragorn says to defend himself in the books.

I digress here, but how the hell did Theoden trust a guy that looked like this?

Certainly a face that wouldn't lie to you right there. Then again why is he even bothering since Saruman is possessing Theoden (which was dumb) anyway? Does Jackson not know what subtlety is or did they think audiences are stupid?
