Its not random. 0F is the freezing point of saltwater brine. 0C is the freezing point of water, and 100C is the boiling point of water, arbitrarily made 100. Celcius is just 2 arbitrary points on a scale between 0 and 100. Once that connection is made, the rest of the known temperatures follow that scale.
