To blow it apart we'd need to plant explosives at its core, and that's basically the plot of armageddon. We'd need to have a spacecraft that could reach the asteroid withhuman passengers, then drilling equipment to get to the core, then pretty much all the explosive power we can create. The craft would need to be able to carry all of that there and back, & we have no such craft right now. It's far more cost effective to just knock it off course to be honest. We can just remotely pilot a giant bomb to hit it at just the right spot at the right time to knock it off course, problem is that plan STILL requires insane amounts of explosive power to accomplish. --- I am the Stig "Or I could just, you know, drive the f***ing car." - TUSMEnterprises ...
