Australian Shepherds and Border Collies are about on par for the most intelligent dog, along with the German Shepherd, Poodle (unfortunately) and Golden Retriever. I don't consider the Border Collie the "undisputed" most intelligent, maybe a very small edge or on par with an Aussie. Aussies have a larger capacity of learning, aka they can overall learn more tricks and tasks than a Border Collie.
But yeah, the pup you posted is a brilliant dog and an excellent choice for anyone with the space and willing to provide enough exercise.
I don't know how you are citing, but there's no empirical research Aussies being on par with Border Collies.

Also, remember that "Chase", the smartest dog in the world (who can remember 1000+ words) is a purebreed Border Collie.
It's actually the same person. A vote from 120+ vets placed the Aussie and Border Collie both on the top 3.
There's dogs on this list that aren't on your list from the same man, it's an ongoing study and an imperfect science. 9 times out of 10 I see Border Collies and Aussies in just about every top 5 or top 3 list when it comes to intelligence.
