Nobody should ever settle for good enough. If an entire budget is going into a feature length film, it better have some quality stuff in it, and tell a good narrative, even if that narrative is roughly the same as the original.
Nina gets, like, 5 minutes in the entire movie. Nina. Think about it. One of the early turning points of the series, that gave the main characters a look at what they could be, and who serves as an emotional pin to which we can connect to the characters... gets 5 minutes. But her death is treated in a way that were supposed to be sad about it.
