Brawl is literally the only entertaining entry to date in the Smash series.

How can anyone say this?

It's floaty, and has very little hitstun and combo potential, and you can just use Metaknight to literally never lose a single fight.

It's boring to both play and watch.

Anyone who says this can't git gud enough to play a real smash game

Also, fucking TRIPPING
Fighting games in general are boring af. Same shit different stage. So Smash is no different than any other fighting franchise. But once a while things get changed up and Brawl and Soul Calibur 2 are about the few I found that offer something other than "arcade" mode. Brawl's story mode was like playing a beat em up with Smash characters. SC2 offer to hone skills and test your brain rather than just one mindless fight after another than usually be accomplished with button mashing.

It might also be that I don't take this shit that seriously, and want enjoy it. Not get an aneurysm because someone's character's hit box isn't to my liking.

Tripping was bad though.

Sounds like you just don't understand fighting games.
Across like 5 generations of gaming I probably own 12 fighting games on different consoles and have played more. Arcades were still big in the 80's and 90's and I frequented them a lot. I 100% understand fighting games. That understanding is the exact reason why I don't play a lot of fighting games.

Then you should understand that fighting games are far from mindless, especially above the casual level. Fighting games are the chess of video games. Mind games + reaction/execution. The fun part is using the tools you are given to stay ahead of your opponent.

Each subgenre and each game with different mechanics all offer to switch up those tools.
