Another thing about the ending, where it's clear that the Chloe ending is the "bad" ending.

A big theme of this game is rebellion. Rebelling against adults and society and all that. So how do you make a game where the player actually rebels? You can't just put them on a path towards rebellion, because then they are just following your instructions, which is the opposite of rebellion. Instead, the whole point of the game is to set up an ending where it's extremely obvious what the right answer is, but you pick the wrong answer anyway. That's true rebellion. That's why the Chloe ending, which is half baked and unsatisfying on the surface, is actually deeply brilliant and a perfect culmination of the entire game.

The fact that the game can deeply support both a rebellious ending and a redemptive ending with just 1 choice like that is pretty amazing. People complain about how binary it is but both endings are fully built up throughout the game so it's really not simple at all.
