Nothing, and people who try to make that connection are claiming that if we just infringed on people's rights some more, we'd be safer. Ben Franklin had something to say about that. The NRA has had a huge hand in lobbying for gun sales and lax gun laws, which have allowed for private citizens to get their hands on assault rifles.
