i think that's part of the draw though

being able to go out into the desert for some peace and quiet with relatively little travel time vs. the glow and appeal of the strip

is there really that much homelessness? I was just there in January and I honestly can't remember seeing a single homeless person on the strip

they kick them off the strip like some potemkin village. They are near the strip.
