Oh I'm sorry, I forgot getting into a shootout inside of your house is safer for your kids. How silly of me.

It very well could be. It all depends on the situation. Just because you can't see it ever being safer to shoot someone to protect you family doesn't mean it can't happen. Also, whoever said shootout. That's only one scenario. And not the most likely to happen...

Damn look at all the cold blooded badasses in here who have never had to kill someone before. I bet it's really easy though and you'll feel super great about doing it because it was self defense. Just like all those soldiers with PTSD and shooter's guilt.

Some people might not kill. Shoot them on the leg. Or arm. Or somewhere where they most likely won't die. Also, maybe someone here has had to kill someone before. Or even just shoot someone.

You'd be stupid to shoot to maim. Any cop will tell you this a lot less hassle if you kill them, and it's not exactly as though you owe a home invader any favors.

That's probably true that it would be easier to kill. But it may not be as easy mentally or emotionally. But killing is an option if it's what you have to do.
