For example, no computer. The National Tracing Center is not allowed to have centralized computer data.

That's the big no-no, says Charlie.

That's been a federal law, thanks to the NRA, since 1986: No searchable database of America's gun owners. So people here have to use paper, sort through enormous stacks of forms and record books that gun stores are required to keep and to eventually turn over to the feds when requested. It's kind of like a library in the old daysbut without the card catalog. They can use pictures of paper, like microfilm (they recently got the go-ahead to convert the microfilm to PDFs), as long as the pictures of paper are not searchable. You have to flip through and read. No searching by gun owner. No searching by name.

this is really fucking stupid, like what the fuck

Do you know what happened in Haiti when they took away all the previous legal guns, and what made it so easy?

Oh yeah, Haiti use to not have so many firearm homicides before the mass confiscations.

Like literally, why do people think it cant/wont happen when it has happened in prefty much every current country with heavily restricted firearm ownership, both modern and 3rd world, recent and historic.

Oh yeah, because they dont actually teach kids about their rights anymore, or if they so we are told how our rights somehow infringe on others rights deapite the others being allowed to do exactly the same.

The system was constructed like this on purpose.

Evil people are usually lazy, hence they take the easy way which ends up hurting others. If our government does decide to start abusing the rigustery this would give citizens enough time to react with force before we could have things systimatically taken.
