Just another point to make: your proposed solution can also be perceived as one made with good intentions (and I have no doubt that it is), but again, the issue is that it has not yet been proven to make schools safer--or if it has, I haven't seen any research to that effect (and if you have, I'd honestly like to read it). Saying that it's common sense shouldn't really be the level of analysis for a public policy that can affect millions of people's livelihoods. Deciding how many layers of clothes to wear on a snowy day? Use your common sense. Deciding how to allocate public funding to ensure the safety of our citizens?
