When panther saved those women, Okoye told those women to never speak of it. Hell the only reason Nakia was with those women outside Wakanda is because they weren't allowed in as outsiders. And when Killmonger first showed up, Wakandans pulled up with weapons. He was only granted an audience because he brought Wakanda's most wanted and he carried the mark of Wakanda.
