They probably have him on suicide watch. Supposedly he dropped the rifle and ran during the confusion first to a Walmart then to a McDonalds where he was taken into custody. That's unusual. Most of these killers have an endgame of killing themselves. This guy wanted to live? Suppose he got away. Sure he would have been caught within a week or so...
