I won't use it if I have produce or anything that requires ID. If I'm just buying packaged barcode shit, I'll use it.

Both of these are smart, you still need a clerk to check the ID and most competent cashiers can ring up produce pretty quick. At this exact moment, I can tell you the code to ring up banannas off hand for instance.

I want to point out that in Walmart, this is down to how much theft a store receives. So blame the jackasses around you for making them inconvinece you. Like, my store in the middle of nowhere doesn't have the bag check turned on. But one near Baltimore City almost certainly does.
