My family was very poor when I was younger and relied on food stamps. It shames me to even think about it now. But it gave so little that we were always still hungry and often relied on churches, etc, to make up the difference. Even then there was always a period at the end of the month where we had nothing left and just had to deal with it. Snacks and soda were practically a delicacy. It wasn't something we had very often.

Let me tell you how much it sucked. It sucked so bad that even though I'm poor enough to qualify for it right now, I fucking never would because I don't want to take the resources from a child that might be starving like I was. It still hurts to remember those times.

Which is why I don't care as much about the limitations as I do that whatever they're given that it actually be enough. That's it. I know I would have been happy with healthy food because it's better than literally nothing.
