Has it always been like this in previous MH installments? I know in MH4U hunts were scaled based on the number of monsters. When hunting a single monster its health would be 100% of its norm for example but when hunting two of them, their health are reduced. I co-oped through most of it with one friend with a third occasionally joining us so can't say if I noticed a difference between two and three players.

What weapons does everyone prefer?

I'll probably start off with sword and shield again and then shift to light bowgun or start off immediately with the LBG. I played through most of MH4U with SS and besides liking the mobility I also enjoyed playing the "support" role with paralysis and traps. I am somewhat tempted to try the charge blade for when I want the extra oomph though.

EDIT: Speaking of LBG, I watched a video and it seems much more mobile now but the video didn't mention critical distance. Is that still a thing where you deal the most damage by being at a certain distance from your target? I think in MH4U, the screen will shake slightly if you were at the right distance.
