the prequels created a universe. aliens of all types everywhere, technology is varied between planets, you've got a whole galaxy of beings living together.

the sequels are tiny in comparison. there are humans absolutely everywhere. the only real aliens are animals and chewbacca. the scope is smaller and everything is focused around a handful of people, half of whom have no actual development behind them.

i think the prequels suck ass, but at least they have a lot more going for them in terms of building the universe.


That's probably why they added the random casino planet in TLJ.

I think one of the biggest missed opportunities with the new trilogy is showing off Leia as an actual leader. It's all in a tie-in novel. That stuff would have been great to see on screen.

They were probably completely scared of the politics stuff thanks to The Phantom Menace reception. But I don't think they needed to be. That wasn't really the problem with that movie.
