His Watchmen adaptation is a great panel for panel recreation of the plot of the comic, but personally I think it lacks heart and misses the point. There are several slight moments where Snyder copies lines or sequences of events but fails to recognize why Moore structured them they way they do. Rorschach's speculation about how awful the world is, reflects more on him and the lens through which he sees the world than it does about the world itself. And the book largely condemns him for his lack of flexibility with regards to humanitarian interests, where Snyder seems to martyr him. The metafiction of the comic (clearly obvious in the conversation between Rorschach and Ozy) is completely lost in the adaption. Were you to simply watch Snyder's adaptation of the book, I don't think you would understand why this book has captured the fascination of new readers for the past thirty years.
