I don't think any movement is going to be perfect

Good; that's what we call wary wisdom. By nature of how human political movements are composed, it's not really possible for their behavior to be "perfect". Inevitably there's going to be too many cooks spoiling the alphabet soup's message and consequences will follow. So it's not a wise idea to look onto a political movement like a faith that's morally infallible. Because in doing so people will then continuously create rationalizations to excuse the rash inhumane actions performed in the name of that faith. Including hasty crucifixion of someone's livelihood via social media.

Actually this specific case is significant in that the possibility of it being ignored by media giants will be proof of an ugly gender bias in their reporting.

Part of the rhetoric that's common among #MeToo communities is that "victims should be believed".
You'll find that many of them never considered the possibility of men being victims and women being perpetrators as well...

The movement has already gotten a couple bullets shot threw it, including the Aziz Ansari scandal.

we shouldn't ignore that sexual harassment and sexual assault is something that happens and happens too often

It's entirely possible to acknowledge this while also remaining attentive to trends in media narratives that are potentially biased and destructive. In my opinion the movement's image did actually need a few injections of "look, men aren't the only perps accused of this unwanted behavior ". You might ask "why, what would that accomplish ". And I would ask "what would it hurt ".

Personally, I think if a movement like #MeToo is supposed to be inclusive towards victims of sexual misconduct and violence, seeing at least a small fraction of them being males victimized by women shouldn't be that surprising. That inclusion would likely rally more support for the movement's overall message than detract, because there's a lot of men in the world too who have reasons to frown on sexual misconduct and violence. Partly because many have also been victims of it.

Admittedly as someone who dislikes biased media and as a gay man who's been the recipient of unwanted sexual behavior by women in the past, I kind of have some personal stake in seeing whether or not media giants demonstrate transparency on the matter. After the last US presidential election, I won't be holding my breath.
