Considering the UK has been arresting people for offensive Facebook and Twitter posts for years now, Im surprised it took them this long to get around to it...

To be fair to the UK police, I actually looked into when these stories were breaking a year or so again and these claims are mostly bullshit and exaggerated.

A lot of the people being "investigated for online hate speech" are actually being investigated for links to radical groups or in connection with violent crimes. And frequently net results or prevent crimes.

It's not that people are being questioned for calling workmates poopyhead on facebook. They're being questioned for saying they're going to set fire to a church or at least supporting people who are. A lot of people are trying very hard to downplay that and make it seem like they are being much more unreasonable than they really are.

Go to pretty much any big name UK politian or figure's social media and you'll find plenty of untouched aggressive insults and hate that confirm this.

The title of your own weblink says it all, Question More.
