Give me another example, Im not downplaying your emotions Im just trying to understand the scenario. I teach at a public school so stuff like this isnt what Im used to

I think you're talking shit.

How about the fact that 90% of my school life was spent getting bullied, and I was the one that got punished because it was easier than disciplining the bullies?

Like I said, I am a seventh grade ELA reading/writing teacher in Brooklyn who uses a positive reinforcement based approach to classroom management

Im sorry you went through all that bullying, Im just really curious about it as examining something that has you so hostile against my profession could lead me to changing an approach to what I do in the classroom

Im not downplaying your emotions, Im trying to delve into what exactly went on in your school

What was the grade and what was the name of a teacher that comes to your head - one who you hated so much?

It wasn't a "grade". It was all through-out Primary, from year 1 to year 7, with every teacher. I remember the deputy head teacher was the worst for it, constantly pressing down on me. And then the head teacher tried to get me into a bullshit problem child class to "help" me that did nothing because I wasn't the problem.

And it continued into Secondary until about Year 3 when I stumbled upon maybe the ONLY teacher that actually gave a shit and went out of his way to help. And he didn't last very long.

Someone in this topic said that a quarter of teachers just don't care. I call horseshit; in my entire thirteen years of education the number of teachers that actually gave a shit about their students can be counted on one hand. College and university were the best years of my life, just because I didn't have people breathing down my fucking neck and trying to "show who was in charge". People say that your school years are the best years of your lives; those people are fucking liars.

Ok ok, Im sorry to hear that dude. What state where you taught in?

Im glad you got through such a tough time and that you managed to have fun in college. When I mention classroom manager it is supposed to be used to help keep a lesson flowing and not to punish or demean a student at all.
