Not really. The shark wasn't some detail mentioned, then put aside. It was the imminent threat that forced Bond to act quickly. Chekhov's gun is the principle that every element in the story must be necessary. The shark already served a purpose. The air bullet was stupid, but it would have been even more stupid to plant it earlier in the scene and then not use it.

So then Blofeld should've been killed by the radioactive lint from On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I dunno, I didn't see that one.

The Bond series has subverted Chekov's gun multiple times. For Your Eyes Only stressed the capabilities of the Lotus, then blew it up in the next scene to show that this Bond film would be one where he relied on his wits rather than his gadgets.

I mean, ultimately, you do have to use that inflation gun to kill somebody. But it made the shark tank pointless unless they wanted to have Whisper get knocked into the tank and eaten instead.

The example doesn't describe subverting Chekhov's gun. And the shark tank wasn't pointless. It had a purpose. And that's what Chekohv's gun is about. That elements in a story should serve a purpose.
