Allowing each other personal space. If I want to game all night, my wife will go binge something on TV, read a book, or play games on her Kindle. If she wants to marathon Harry Potter movies, there is zero issue with me going in the other room and watching something else or gaming. If I want to go out with my friends, no guilt trips, no 50 questions, it's just a simple trustworthy "Okay, have fun" and vice versa.

There's no friction, no whining or complaining, and no restriction on what you enjoy and what you want to do with your free time.

The worst thing in a relationship is having one wanting to be up the other's ass at all times, every day, every free moment. Let each other be your own person, along with enjoy each other's company and interests.

My experience comes from being happily married for 14 years. I think we have fought twice in that time. Otherwise, things have been fantastic and i'm not "locked down" or "whipped" in the slightest.

That partner that wants to be involved with every moment of your life, and obsess over everything you want to do and where you want to be is likely going to get on your nerves sooner than later and make you feel suffocated.
