Not every R rated film is a Tarantino or Fincher. Deadpool itself largely only worked because of the lead actor's talent with similar roles in movies like Van Wilder. Without that vision you can easily end up in pointless eye-rolling edginess like Wanted or that animated adaptation of the Killing Joke. --- Whatever happened to standards?
