Thurman says that in Kill Bill, Tarantino had done the honors with some of the sadistic flourishes himself, spitting in her face in the scene where Michael Madsen is seen on screen doing it and choking her with a chain in the scene where a teenager named Gogo is on screen doing it.

Another well-known instance is when it was his hands actually strangling (as in not a fake choking) Diane Kruger in Inglorious Basterds. Lesser known is when this came up during a Conan interview and Conan asked him why he would insist on doing that, to which Tarantino replied 'you mean apart from the sheer sexual satisfaction of it?'

It's a worst-kept secret that Tarantino's always been into some weird and possibly dark kinks; since I share a few of those kinks, I always felt a touch of kinship with him. Now that I know there's a angry and forceful side to his personality that has likely bled over into that aspect of his life and filmmaking, it definitely sours that sentiment.
